CHALLENGE
How can we efficiently connect with our content in order to create personal, memorable experiences?
VIA is an imagined travel channel with a connecting app that allows users to watch their favorite television programs and plan and bookmark their future trips at the same time. VIA is meant to provide the modern multi-tasking user with even more efficiency and convenience than ever before.
MOTION GRAPHICS
For the core component of this project, which was the sizzle reel, I wanted to achieve a number of goals. First, I wanted to give users an idea of what content would be featured on the channel. I also wanted demonstrate the brand elements in action, which includes color and typography as well as its treatment. I wanted to create a consistent system of motions, which primarily includes swiping, vertically and horizontally, and typographical popping. Lastly, I wanted to demonstrate the project's unique feature which is the mobile application that automatically syncs with the channel's content.
BRANDING
I spent some time searching for unique and creative words for the name of the brand until I stumbled upon the simple Latin suffix, via, which translates to "path" or "road." With this in mind, the brand's purpose follows its name, creating a path from your home to your phone and ultimately to your next adventure. The result of the logo design for VIA was a simple breakdown of the three letters in order to construct a symbol that also resembles a road or pathway.
The logo in motion establishes the pattern of motion for the rest of the brand, which is primarily composed of swiping. The tagline below the logo moves in a way that resembles destinations shuffling on an arrival/departure board at the airport.
APP PROTOTYPE & DESIGN
The VIA app is designed as an extension of the channel. Viewers may synch up their devices in order to keep up with and even save the experiences that are shown on their favorite television shows. The interface is clean and simple for users to navigate. Below is a demonstration of a user synching their phone with the current show they are watching, selecting a feature from the episode, and saving it to their travel wish list.
